What The Sea Is For

Thud thud thud...

I think I hear Terence returning, says Gaius.

Terence appears on the staircase.

Guess what?

What? asks Baudin. Did you see something out there?

YES! says Terence. Dangerous rocks!

Good, says Baudin. That's where they should be.

Can I do a warning? asks Terence.

No need for a warning, says Captain Baudin.

SOS, says Terence.

That's not a warning, says Baudin.

'Look out for dangerous rocks' would be a warning, says Denis.

'Dangerous rocks' would be shorter, says Gaius.

SOS would be even shorter, says Denis. But unsuitable in the circumstances.

Why? asks Terence.

It means Save Our Souls, says Captain Baudin. S for Save, O for Our, and S for Souls.

Ha ha! laughs Terence. You made a mistake.

No, he didn't, says Gaius.

What mistake do you think I made? asks Captain Baudin.

You says S for two different things, says Terence.

Nothing wrong with that, says Denis. S is for many things. Sardines for example.

That reminds me, says Captain Baudin. This table needs wiping.

He goes to the sink to look for a cloth.

Comes back with a wet one.

He wipes the table. Sardine oil soaks into the cloth.

Save Our Sardines, says Terence. But you ate them.

Oh dear, says Denis. So we did. Too late to save them.

Bur Terence now has an idea.

Save Our Cuttlefish! says Terence.

SOC, says Denis. A relevant message for today.

No one would know what the C was for, says Gaius.

Terence thinks Gaius is funny.

Everyone knows what the sea is for.
