Who Dies Unknowingly?

I suppose you'll soon be going, says Captain Baudin.

Yes, says Gaius. Thanks for your generous hospitality.

It's always pleasant to have company, says Captain Baudin.

Your torch died, says Terence.

Even so, says Captain Baudin.

And I haven't replaced all the hooks in your curtains, says Denis.

Never mind, says Captain Baudin. They could do with a wash.

Do you ever use them? asks Denis.

No, says Captain Baudin. Nothing to hook them to.

Let's get going! says Terence.

I'll just go upstairs and get my backpack, says Gaius.

Could you bring mine as well? asks Denis.

And the curtains? asks Captain Baudin.

All right, says Gaius.

He goes up the stairs.

Captain Baudin turns to Ageless.

Bon chance with the negotiations, says Captain Baudin.

Best case scenario, the parents will have have died, says Ageless.

Unknowingly, says Captain Baudin.

Who dies unknowingly? says Denis.

I'm just putting myself in their shoes, says Captain Baudin.

Do they wear shoes? asks Terence.

Figuratively, says Captain Baudin.

Cuttlefish shoes, says Terence.

Don't they only have arms? says Denis.

An irrelevance, says Captain Baudin. All I'm saying is that the best case scenario should involve the parents being aware of what's happening.

Why don't you dive with me? asks Ageless. Seeing you have these fixed opinions.

I will, says Captain Baudin. The lighthouse can look after itself. What's to prevent me?

Nothing, says Ageless. Bring your own basket.

Gaius comes down the steps with two backpacks and the curtains.

Alors! says Captain Baudin. I shan't be washing those curtains just yet.

He's coming with us! says Terence.

Wonderful, says Gaius. That means we have two egg collectors. Not to mention Captain Baudin's local knowledge.

Should I bring a basket with a lid? asks Captain Baudin.

I've got an egg box, says Terence.

So he has. Or did have.

Somewhere.
